Chinnachowk GAME 1 WESTON JETS @ BRISTOL BATS 14/04/2019
Weston’s first game of 2019 was a tough one against an experienced Bats team. Bristol comfortably came out on top outscoring Weston 23-3. Mahlsdorf Dan Kirby-James was the Jets MVP going 2 for 4 with a double and 2 runs but it was Dave Hepworth who will be remembered for hitting a home run in his first ever at-bat!
Caleta Olivia Game 2 Cardiff Merlins @ Weston Jets 28/04/2019
The Jets came out on top in their home opener against the Merlins winning 13-10. Dan Kirby-James and Jes Jimenez both had 4 hits but the MVP was Jes’s brother Tal’ne Gian Jimenez who had 3 hits and also pitched 5 immaculate innings giving up only 2 hits and allowing no runs while striking out 13 Cardiff batters.
Game 3 Weston Jets @ Bristol Buccaneers 12/05/2019
Game 3 saw the Jets stage an amazing comeback. Trailing by 8 runs going into the 9th inning, Weston came back from the dead as Bristol’s pitching faltered and closer Mantas Sulinskas held his nerve to win the game 30 runs to 28. MVP was Jets starting pitcher Marshall Hanney who had a great game on both sides of the ball.
Game 4 Bristol Buccaneers @ Weston Jets 19/05/2019
The Bucs came to Robson Field in a rematch of the previous nail biting game and again it was another thriller. Once again Weston threatened to come from behind but this time faltered at the end losing by 28 runs to 23. Garry Webb won the MVP award with 3 good hits.
Game 5 Bristol Bats @ Weston Jets 02/06/2019
Game 5 was another defeat to the Bats for the Jets. Dave Hepworth was Weston’s MVP in a 21-12 loss played in torrential rain. The game was memorable because Rich Hall played for Bristol against Weston, scoring 2 runs for the Bats and earning himself the nickname, “Big Stick Rich”!
Game 6 Weston Jets @ Cardiff Merlins 23/06/2019
Yet another nail biting comeback saw the Jets break Welsh hearts once again in a 26-25 triumph. Marshall Hanney won his 2nd MVP award of the season with a fine all round display.
Game 7 Weston Jets @ Newton Brewers 07/07/2019
Having finished the Divisional round of fixtures with a record of 3 wins and 3 losses the Jets narrowly missed out on playing Double A baseball in the second half of the season. Instead they travelled to Newton Abbot to face the Brewers in their 1st Single A match. Unfortunately Weston just didn’t turn up on the day and lost heavily 31-15. Marshall Hanney was once again MVP with 2 hits and scoring 3runs, while striking out 9 of the Brewers Batters.
Game 8 Cardiff Merlins @ Weston Jets 21/07/2019
Cardiff were the opposition once again in week 8, but this time the Welsh team got their revenge winning by 21 runs to 16. Chris Taylor won the Jets MVP award with 4 hits and 3 runs.
Game 9 Weston Jets @ Bristol Buccaneers 04/08/2019
The Jets played another familiar opponent when the faced the Bucs in Gameweek 9. Weston finally got their first Single A League win in a 27-15 triumph. Catcher Darren Hines took home the MVP award with 2 hits, 2 runs and 3 RBIs.
Game 10 Exeter Spitfires @ Weston Jets 11/08/2019
Needing a win in their last regular season game of 2019 to stand any chance of reaching the Single A final, the Jets unfortunately came up against the Spitfires returning ace pitcher Mike Osborn. Weston battled valiantly but a costly 6th inning saw them lose by 22 runs to 7. First Baseman Kev Robson took home the final MVP award of the season with a great fielding display.
